Travel Information

Here is some useful information concerning how to get to the conference.

Arrival and Departure Times

The canonical arrival date is Sunday, 2 July, when there will be a welcome reception at 19.00, followed by dinner at 19:30. The canonical departure time is Friday, 7 July after lunch.

Airports

A convenient international connection is via Zürich airport (ZRH). Other nearby airports are Milan (MXP), Geneva (GVA) and Basel (BSL). From there we recommend that you take a train to Locarno.

Please note that the public transport connections from the local airport in Lugano (LUG) to the conference venue are less convenient than the ones from Zürich (or Geneva). We recommend to fly to Zürich and take the train from there.

From Zürich to Locarno

If you fly to Zürich Airport, take a train to Zürich Hauptbahnhof (main station) – trains leave several times every hour from the train station just beneath the main airport building and take ten minutes.

At Zürich main station you should take a train to Bellinzona (in the direction of Lugano) – trains leave at intervals of 30, 60 or 90 minutes.

In Bellinzona you can switch to the local train S20 to Locarno – trains leave every 30 minutes.

From Locarno to the Conference Centre

On the arrival day, Sunday, 2 July, there will be a shuttle bus service from Locarno train station to the conference center. It will depart at 15:35, 16:15, 17:05, 17:45, 18:35, 19:35, and it will operate on a first come first serve basis. For directions and alternatives, please see this link. On the departure day, Friday, 7 July, we shall organise a return shuttle bus operating between 10:30 and 15:00.
